Children’s Theater Project

Children love to put on a show! Whether they are banging on pots and pans in the kitchen or just reading out loud, there is something magical for a child when they have a captive and appreciative audience.

Theater is good for children in so many ways. They develop their creativity, work in groups together, build confidence and hone core skills in reading, remembering and public speaking. All of this in the fun package of a play! Whether your children are shy or gregarious, studious or hyperactive, imaginative or analytical, theater experience will help their creativity flourish!

Education Programs
In keeping with our commitment to community cultural development, we are developing a broad range of arts instruction. We are pleased to offer the Children’s Theater Project, a dynamic new elementary education component. We believe it is a great way to introduce our kids to the theater arts, develop their imaginations and skills, and possibly spark the interest of the next big superstar!

Children’s Theater Project
We have developed 12-week sessions during which children aged 6-12 will be exposed to all elements of theater. The students will write, produce, direct, and act in a short play. Instructors will assist in all areas ranging from costume and set design, to script writing, vocal practice and acting skills. Children can join at any time during the sessions, but we recommend that they attend the full session to maximize their experience.

Our Instructors
Theater Project instructors are mothers with children in Springfield’s public schools. They are CPR certified and licensed by the Department of Education as childcare providers. Our program’s director and lead instructor, Ipsita Lizardi has an extensive background in professional and community theater. She has worked as a professional writer for ten years, chairs the PTO at her children’s school and volunteers in several local community organizations.
